Overview

In this position, the Sales Representative I, Combo will be directly responsible for generating net new opportunities, and growing the sales pipeline for our Red Hat SLED Mid-Atlantic business unit. The Sales Rep will help sell Red Hat products to SLED, and work closely with their technology vendor counterparts to develop a business plan to help guide their success.

Responsibilities

Responsible for selling Red Hat products to the SLED community:

  • Articulates effectively the value proposition associated with Red Hat software products.
  • Recommends business solutions based on customer's needs.
  • Develops monthly sales pipeline and generates weekly sales calls with SLED customers.
  • Identifies new business opportunities and performs initial customer qualifications.
  • Engages with key accounts at the beginning of sales cycle to assess specific customer needs.
  • Creates solutions based on customer needs.
  • Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from trade shows, direct-mail responses, aged leads, dealer resellers, business directories, Internet web sites, inbound inquiries, outbound cold calls and other sources.
  • Enters new customer sales data and activity and updates current customer data as necessary into business systems.
  • Prepares quotes and reports and gives presentations of business transactions.
  • Investigates and resolves customer issues and complaints.
  • Works with outside vendor sales representatives to keep account activities and literature up to date.
  • Makes daily independent decisions related to the sale of products, negotiating margin and terms and conditions of the sale within corporate guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Knowledge and Experience

  • College or technical degree preferred.
  • Must have at least 1-2 year of product sales experience.
  • Working knowledge of database software and MS products.
  • Able to work independently and make independent sales decisions.

Skills and Abilities

  • Must be highly organized and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of government procurement rules, regulations, and buying vehicles.
  • Ability to develop questioning strategy to identify customer needs.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to solicit customer input to develop accurate forecasting.
  • Ability to recognize customer business issues and economic factors.
