DLT is looking for an experienced and motivated data and analytics technologist with a unique balance of technical depth, business acumen, marketing communications, and strong interpersonal skills to join the DLT Office of the CTO.  As the DLT Chief Technologist for Data & Analytics, you'll play a critical role in building and sustaining both customer and vendor relationships while driving data and analytics opportunities to surpass the company's revenue goals.  As a subject matter expert in public sector data management, analytics, compliance, and governance requirements, you'll work closely with DLT's Divisions and vendor partners to develop and execute on the DLT-wide data and analytics portfolio strategy.  This position is high impact with very high visibility, as you will regularly be interacting with customers, vendor partners, and executives and ensuring the enterprise adoption of (big) data and analytics technologies.


  • In partnership with our Senior Management Team, formulate and execute on the corporate (big) data and analytics portfolio strategy
  • Develop and maintain the data and analytics framework and define the strategy for vendor identification
  • Identify and develop use cases for big data tools in Federal markets, to assist marketing and sales
  • Support end user data management and analytics strategy and roadmap development from a technical perspective, including the identification of potential obstacles and recommending solutions to mitigate customer challenges
  • Discuss and present on data management and analytics concepts, approaches, and offerings with senior IT positions within the target accounts and agencies
  • Collaborate with customers to understand their data management and analytics requirements and develop advanced solutions that are customized to meet our customers' unique needs.
  • Build meaningful relationships with customer Chief Data Officers and data management and analytics practitioners, so they can understand, position, and adopt, DLT's offerings
  • Socialize DLT's offerings and capabilities with strategic vendor partners to ensure vendors view DLT as a high value technical partner in the data and analytics segment
  • Evangelize DLT's data and analytics offerings and provide thought leadership through articles, blogs, presentations, panels and other forms of media
  • Establish strong relations with key vendor peers
  • Maintain technical and functional relevance through continuous learning (training) and participation in partner events and industry days
  • Capture and share knowledge across the wider DLT Engineering community and provide mentorship to DLT Engineering and Sales staff

Minimum Qualifications


  • 10+ years total experience with data management and analytics  design / implementation / consulting / operations -or- a BA/BS degree in engineering, mathematics, statistics, computer science or related field and 7+ years of similar experience
  • 5+ years defining/collecting requirements and designing solutions
  • 5+ years of technical experience implementing/using data and analytics products, processes, and programs
  • Expertise in the complete data life cycle, including collecting, cleansing, organizing, storing, analyzing, and governing data
  • Experience with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data and the tools needed throughout the lifecycle of managing and using the data
  • Knowledge of file systems, data stores, resource managers, coordination, computational frameworks, integration, analytics, data mining, and visualization with subject matter expertise in two or more of these areas


  • Hands on experience with a broad range of technologies (examples include technologies/vendors like: Oracle, MySQL, Cassandra, HDFS, Yarn, MapReduce, Storm, Spark, Hive, Pig, Tableau, Alteryx, Informatica, Elastic, DataRobot, etc.)
  • Proficient in statistics
  • Proficient in Python or R
  • Proficient in SQL
  • History of successful data and analytics consulting (pre or post sales) with U.S. State/Local Government, Higher Education, Federal Civilian Government, Department of Defense, and/or Intelligence Community
  • Examples of presentations, public speaking, and/or written artifacts
  • Public Sector industry experience
  • Technology (vendor) certifications
  • Familiarity with developments in machine learning and predictive analytics
  • Familiarity with U.S. public sector data initiatives (like the Open Data Policy and Open Government Initiative, and Project Open Data)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability communicate effectively across internal and external organizations
  • Excellent presentation skills and the ability to build and present high quality demonstrations and presentations to both technical and executive audiences (i.e. experience presenting to C-level/stakeholder audiences, large (seminar) audiences, panels, etc.)
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills (i.e. requirements capture)
  • Ability to take complex technical topics and explain them to non-technical audiences
  • Ability to both lead teams and support them
